The symposium will be held at the University of Tübingen’s Alte Aula (Münzgasse 30), centrally located in the Tübingen’s historical city center along the Necker River bank and next to the city cathedral. The Alte Aula, or Old Hall, served as the primary administrative building of the university until the construction of the Neue Aula, or New Hall, in 1845. The current building design was commissioned by Duke Karl Eugen of Württemberg in 1777 on the occasion of the university’s 300th year anniversary. The building bears the ducal insignia in the façade. Recently renovated, the Alte Aula is home to the Institute of Education and is registered a cultural monument.
An optional guided tour is planned during the symposium for visiting University Museum (MUT) collections and paleoanthropology facilities, including the osteological collections and the high resolution computed tomography laboratory at the Institute of Archaeological Sciences (Rümelinstraße 03). In their free time, guests can additionally visit the university’s Ancient Cultures Museum, located in the Tübingen Castle, and the Paleontology Museum.
