Gede Primahadi Wijaya Rajeg

Gede Primahadi Wijaya Rajeg is a lecturer at the English Department, Udayana University, in Indonesia. His research interests fall within the broader framework of usage-based/cognitive linguistics and empirical methods, especially corpus linguistics and, recently, experimental linguistics. In particular, he investigates how metaphoric languages about intangible concepts, such as emotions and time, reveal the way we conceptualise our experiences with them, based on data from Indonesian. In addition, he conducts corpus-based research on Indonesian linguistics from a constructional framework, especially the interaction between morphologically related words and their difference semantic trait in usage (e.g., the interaction of voice morphology and metaphoric meaning of words). Gede’s current and ongoing projects deal with (i) combining corpus-based and experimental methods (i.e. sentence elicitation) to usage variation of Indonesian ingestion verbs, (ii) applying vector space model on Indonesian verbal lexical semantics, and (iii) the spatial construal of time using evidence from language and co-speech gestures. He uses R for data processing, analysis, writing-up reports, and more.
