Admixture between populations is a topic of great interest, especially since the discovery of gene flow from Neanderthals into modern humans. The introduction of genetic material from differentiated populations is a challenge for the receiving population, but also provides opportunities for adaptation. In humans and their closest relatives, the great apes, such admixture patterns can be studied in a comparative manner.

Here, I will present insights into the genomic landscape of introgression in different species. This also has implications on lineage-specific features, which is of particular interest for the understanding of human evolution.
